What does one check cost?
A fast check costs 1 credit. A deep check, which adds GitHub, web, and name-pattern evidence plus the reviewer model, costs 5 credits. Checks that end as unknown cost nothing.
Why are unknown results free?
Greylisting, timeouts, and silent mail servers are not answers. We only charge when Barometer returns deliverable, risky, or undeliverable. Batches retry unknown leads after 5, 15, and 45 minutes before settling, at no extra cost.
Do credits expire?
No. Credit packs are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Unused credits stay on your account for as long as it is open.
Is there a free trial?
Every new account gets 100 free credits. No card is required: sign in with your email, create an API key, and start checking.
Does Barometer send email to the addresses I check?
No. The SMTP probe connects to the recipient's mail server, asks whether it would accept the mailbox (RCPT TO), and disconnects. It never issues the DATA command, so no message is ever delivered.
How do I pay, and can I get an invoice?
Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details never touch our servers, and Stripe emails a receipt for every purchase that you can use as an invoice.
What if I need more than 100,000 credits?
Buy several packs, or email us if you run more than a million checks a month and want volume pricing or a dedicated probe pool.
